“I had been to quite a few physio's before I was recommended to you. Its only been 4 sessions but for the first time in ages I have been able to get by without my pills. I think I can start to put my back problems behind me - Thank you - I will tell all my f”riends about you!

“Starting in 2005 my first visit to the West Yorkshire Physiotherapy Centre was when Janine treated me for pain in my lower back which I had been suffering for quite some time. After two or three fortnightly sessions my condition improved significantly. I have since had arthritis pain in my shoulder and hand which Janine relieved with intermittent visits over the past five years. Recently I have had trouble in my left calf area which was making me limp quite painfully. This turned out to be caused not in the leg but in the ankle which Janine has now corrected and my limp has disappeared. Because I suffer from Psoriasis, a skin disease with reddish spots and patches covered with silvery scales which causes soreness, I was concerned this would make it difficult for her hands-on treatment. I need not have worried as due to her expertise she carefully avoided the problem areas and still managed to treat the cause of the pain. Thankyou! R. W. Norwood Green. 8th” December 2010

“I am 85 years old and I have osteoporosis for which I take medication. I had no other serious medical problems. In January 2009, a pain started in my leg that eventually forced me to see a GP. I was given painkillers, increasingly in higher doses, as the pain worsened. I was not sleeping well and given drugs to help me to relax. By April, I was taking a cocktail of drugs that did not leave me pain free. After an x-ray, I was told that the pain was due to age related arthritis in my back. Before the pain started I was active and mobile. By April, I could only go for short walks to take the dog out. I had stopped going out with friends, and no longer acted as volunteer at a day centre where I had previously assisted. Not being able to see an end to the pain made me feel quite low, and the fact that I was no longer active caused other complications. My daughter persuaded me to visit the physiotherapy centre in Wyke, having phoned first to see if they could help. My first appointment with Janine was for a consultation and treatment Even after only one visit, the pain lessened considerably - I felt as though I had a new lease of life I stopped taking two of the drugs straight away, and a third drug, I am gradually taking smaller doses of. The exercises that Janine prescribed for me have helped considerably and I have been doing them regularly as I know that they work. I have resumed my social life and feel that life is really worth living ”again! Marion

“Name: Michael Westlake Age: 64 Occupation: Chartered Surveyor. Case History: I have run six miles every working day for many years during which time I have endured the usual crop of pulled muscles but nothing that stopped me running. In summer 20 I 0, my Achilles Tendon became painful and swollen to such an extent that running was very uncomfortable but I persevered in the hope that it would improve-it didn't. I consulted my doctor who referred me to a specialist who gave me a steroid injection which alleviated the swelling but did nothing to cure the problem and all I got from the NHS Physio was stretching exercises. Janine was recommended to me via England marathon champion, Anne Buckley, who should know a thing or two about sports injuries and after just one session I knew she was right. Now, after ten treatment sessions I am pain-free and back on the roa”d. Job done!

“I have had ongoing minor knee pain for c20 years but had still been training for a charity walk for over six months when, with only 8 weeks to go until the start, I developed a severe knee pain that meant it was unbearable to walk downhill. I visited the West Yorkshire Physiotherapy Centre, was diagnosed with ITBS and commenced an intensive course of treatment to resolve the problem. After 15 days tough walking, on the 3rd May 2009 I completed the 300 miles and 58,000 feet of ascent that makes up the Cornwall Coastal Path and, together with some work colleagues, helped raise in excess of £10,000 for our three charities .Scope, Breast Cancer Campaign and The Lords Taverners. I felt the WYPC were quick to identify the nature of my injury and with a professional, hands on approach fixed the physical problems allowing me to concentrate on the mental challenge of such an endurance walk! Without the help of the WYPC I would never have been able to start let alone finish such a challenging walk and I am extremely grateful to Janine and her colleagues for their skills, talent and support in achieving this goal. “In May 2007, I had a full knee replacement operation which was further compounded by getting an infection in the wound that required a further operation. I was referred to the West Yorkshire Physiotherapy centre and began my physiotherapy soon after the second operation .. Three months after the operation I was able to begin playing golf again and attend the gym. I cannot praise highly enough the treatment I received from Janine and her team. My progress was continually assessed and different exercises given on a regular basis to return my knee and leg back to normal. I would recommend anyone to the West Yorkshire Physiotherapy Centre where the treatment and facilities are second to none N”eil Emery
