FAQs – Your most popular questions answered

Its natural that before you attend the physiotherapy clinic you will have a few questions.

Here are some of the key questions that we are asked but please don’t hesitate to contact us with any specific issues you might have.

Can I claim the cost of my physiotherapy treatment on my private medical insurance?

West Yorkshire Physiotherpy are recognised by almost all of the major private health insurance companies for delivering physiotherapy treatment. Patients need to be referred by their GP or specialis to claim the cost of their physiotherapy treatment through private medical insurance. We do strongly recommend that you contact your insurance company before starting treatment to confirm the policy conditions relating to your claim.

The key questions to check with your insurance company are:

  • – Is there an excess on the policy? i.e. the policy holder has to pay for part of the treatment themselves.
  • – How much insurance cover is available? e.g. set number of treatments or monetary limit.
  • – Is the financial assistance provided for physiotherapy treatment alone or is it part of an overall sum for specialist services. This is important if a Consultant is involved or if further investigations are being considered.
  • – Is there a time limit for the treatment to take place.

Is there somewhere to park?

The centre has a free car park in the grounds and there is plenty of off street parking around the centre.

Is there disabled access?

The centre was fully refurbished in 2008 and now boasts some of the best physiotherapy facilities in the area.  We have full disabled access with entrance ramp, wide doors and disabled toilets.

Can I change or cancel my Appointment?

You can change or cancel your appointment free of charge up to five working days before your appointment. The centre operated on a 24 hours cancellation policy.  Cancellation within less than 24 hours or non attendances will incur a cancellation fee of the cost of the treatment.  Please note cancellations charges may not be covered by your insurance.  An answer phone is available on 01274 693591 for out of hours cancellation.

Can I bring someone with me?

You are very welcome to bring someone with you to your appointment if that makes you feel more comfortable. If you like they can sit in on the consultation and treatment session with you.

How many treatments will I need?

This usually depends on factors such as how long the problem has been present, the severity of the condition and also the requirements of the patient. For example, a person wishing to get back to training for a specific sport or event may require a longer course of treatment for a knee injury than a sedentary office-worker.

The number of session can vary considerably depending on the diagnosis though 4-6 treatment sessions can be fairly standard. A person seeking advice on what they should and shouldn’t be doing in relation to their condition or problem might just attend for 1-2 sessions to be shown some specific exercises and receive some general management advice for their condition. Similarly an individual with a relatively minor injury might just need a few treatments to assess their condition and alleviate their symptoms. If you require post-operative treatment or for a condition that has been present for some time then full rehabilitation may require considerably more sessions.
